you're retired!? That must be nice. I look forward to my retirement, although w/ this economy and my lack of "disposable income" for retirement funds, I'll probably be working until I'm 84. But when the time does come along, I'll be in an RV seeing the rest of the Country. And I'll have my computer and internet on-the-road with me.

I agree w/ the smaller keyboard. I constantly make typos by hitting two keys at once w/ my big fingers.

Chase I guess just like the Netbooks this is a relatively new Forum as well.

I can see my Netbook becoming my prominent Comm tool.

Usually my wife and I leave our laptops (Compaq Presarios w/AMD Athlon Processors) set up at the kitchen table. She has her interests and I have mine and we both monitor our emails frequently. Now I have my Netbook sitting on top of my laptop (just in case I need access to something on it). My interest lie in Networking/PC's, gadget technology, multimedia (music and digital photography), movies (Video), GPS technology as well as handyman jobs around the house. I almost forgot - it also includes sharing my findings (whether accurate or miss-informed) with others in various forums / groups on the Internet.

I find that with the Netbook I am more apt to move it around the house with me because of it's size and weight. I still leave the power adapter at the kitchen table ready to be used.

This technology is really under appreciated by to-days youth (not meant as a derogatory comment) after all they were born in the digital age and their expectations are high. It was not that long ago that a L.E.D. watch or basic Calculator cost over $100 (now they are disposable and use LCD). Transistor radios were made out of individual transistors or what is now called discreet components (for the high end audio systems) instead of large scale IC's with most of the components designed into the IC.

I paid $299 at Costco for my Acer AO-D250. It came with 1 gig of ram (user upgradeable to 2 gigs) - video memory is shared, 160 gig harddrive, Lan - rj45 10/100, wifi 802-d/g - VGA - out (so you can connect a large flat screen if you want) multi-flash card reader/writer - built in Web-cam/Microphone, audio in/out jacks and three USB-2 ports as well as a 10.1 inch high resolution bright screen. It only came with the 3 cell 2.5 hr battery but then again I am not a student that requires the extended up time while on campus. I look at it as a built in UPS.

When I travel it only gets pulled out at stopovers/final destination or for airport security. That has been my experience using my 15.5" Compaq Laptop - that practice may change with the Netbook. I may find myself using it to kill time while in transit.

I do have MS streets and Trips that came with a USB-2 GPSr. I may try it out as a super large GPS Nav in the car - just for the fun. Another summer time project to add to my list. I would also have to design and build a support bracket that will hold it securely while moving around.

If anyone wants to discuss ripping methodology, multimedia apps etc feel free to contact me via email as most open forums prefer to keep things above board and some of the discussion may touch grey areas. I wouldn't want to compromise the well being of this forum.

Lightbulb Relaxing and checking things out.

Hello! I'm not doing too much. After arriving from work I watched tv, then had a bite to eat, and now looking for good input on netbooks. I live in Ohio, and I'm so eager to get my netbook. I am not crazy about the color available, but it'll keep me from paying for shipping and waiting even longer. It's getting close to time to hit the sack and prepare for a new day. Good night!
